Red Star Roasters Espresso Bar
The Red Star Roasters Espresso Bar and “urban garden”, housed in a 20-foot shipping container, is far from being a gimmick.
The businesses director of coffee, Marichi Clark, looks at the distinctive characteristics of each coffee crop the cafe uses; how each bean is processed at each farm, whether it’s done ethically and sustainably, and most importantly, the freshness of the crop.
Red Star sources coffee beans from 16 origins across South America, Africa and Indonesia. The carbon emissions (from importing the beans) are completely offset through an accredited carbon offset company.
The cafe itself is happy to let you know about how it does this, and also composts for its herb garden. A vertical garden is growing and forms the boundary of the cafe.
