Padre Coffee Queen Victoria Market
It took the Padre Coffee team just two weeks to turn these two shipping containers in a disused alley of Queen Vic Market into a smart coffee nook. It’s a nice place to stop before you wander up and down String Bean Alley, a strip that showcases local wares – edible and otherwise – in colourful containers.
Although considerably smaller than Padre’s East Brunswick location, the coffee is still seriously good. Especially after you’ve fought the crowds in the market hall.
Padre roasts all its own coffee at Brunswick, so expect a fresh, expertly brewed cup. There are house blends for espresso and filter, plus a number of rotating single origins sourced from all over the coffee-growing world.
The focus on education and experience has been carried over from the first Padre outlet. The staff is happy to talk you through the whole process – whether you’re grabbing a quick take away, buying beans for home or the gear to brew them with.
There’s a small menu of sweet and savoury bites, and a little Astro-turfed deck to sit on while you rest and recuperate.
