Kit Espresso opened in 2016, making it the youngest of the family of five Padre outlets. It brings the down-to-earth Padre attitude to a new, tough audience – the CBD coffee crowd.

The store distils a formula established by the East Brunswick store. Since exported to the South Melbourne and Queen Victoria markets, it’s pretty simple. Good beans, no fuss, friendly staff.

Small and sleek, it’s an efficient operator. It stocks a pared back collection of the usual coffee gadgets. Fresh Padre beans are available to take home or keep around the office. As always, coffee is king, but fresh colourful pastries (this time by Eat a Scroll) fill the glass cabinet. Grab a coffee to go or perch on the bar seating for a quick pit stop.
