Much like its Richmond and South Yarra counterparts, Maker on Little Collins Street likes to keep things simple.

Opened by husband and wife duo Stephanie and John Vroom, Maker doesn’t believe in blends, but single-origin beans. Coffee-wise, it’s a bit choose-your-own-adventure – you can opt for an Ethiopian espresso with notes of blackberry and lavender, or a filter coffee from Rwanda with a hint of cherry jam.

While the focus is on coffee, Maker has some food options on its menu. It sticks to cafe classics like cheese toasties, avo toast or yoghurt with muesli. Plus, you’ll find baked goods right by the La Marzocco coffee machine. Maker also has its own beans available to take home.

The interior is sleek and minimalist with a stone island bench and oak finishings, and large bi-fold windows that open up to Melbourne’s CBD. Or grab a stool facing the barista station, where you can sharpen your coffee skills by watching the professionals work, or have a chat with the barista.
