Shared spaces are common in creative neighbourhoods such as Collingwood, as arty individuals seek each other out as a means to save money on rent, all the while fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
Only a short stumble from The Tote and sharing a building with [99 Problems], Magic Johnston is facilitating just this.
The space is the brainchild of Hugo Atkins, an entrepreneur, artist and basketball fan. The 1200-square-metre space is for all manner of artists. It is light, modern and offers 25 desk spaces for very reasonable rent. Inside there are also studios, private spaces, meeting rooms and a spacious industrial kitchen.
Magic Johnston is also home to Everyday Coffee and [The Good Copy] and regularly hosts markets, exhibitions, launch events, zine fairs and pop-up shops.
We do not seek or accept payment from the cafes, restaurants, bars and shops listed in the Directory – inclusion is at our discretion. Venue profiles are written by independent freelancers paid by Broadsheet.
