Keki Milk Bar is a 28-seat dessert haven tucked away in a busy corner of the city. The soufflé pancake spot is run by Chef Wookjin “Jin” Jang and co-owners Hangyul “Han” Oh (co-owner Ilza Izakaya and Snack Bar) and Jacob Jeon.

The store is filled with round wooden tables and stools, pot plants and cute pancake prints, creating a chill and homely ambience. At the back, you can watch the team pipe batter onto the grill in the open kitchen. And at the front, an elevated platform opens onto the street – letting you can watch the trams pass by while enjoying some signature soufflé pancakes.

They’re made with whipped egg whites and are about the size of an English muffin. The options – including plain, matcha, strawberry, cookies and cream, honey, and caramel – are served as a double stack. Beeline for crowd favourites such as tiramisu (with coffee syrup and a Tim Tam and digestive biscuit crumble) and strawberry white chocolate.

Each stack is topped with a custard-y mascarpone Keki cream, made with Jang’s top-secret recipe that prevents the topping from running midway down the pancake stack. The result is a not-too-sweet, not-too-heavy cream that gives Keki’s soufflé pancakes their recognisable look.

The signature drink is the house-made soda, in flavours like strawberry, orange and lemon, or passionfruit – which are flavoured with syrup made by fermenting each fruit. Plus, find matcha, strawberry and chocolate drinks, coffee from Cru+ Coffee Roasters and tea from Quinnies.
