Although there are several cold-pressed juice shops within a kilometre of her store, Green Cup owner Natalie Guest doesn’t consider herself in the same category.
She and her husband Simon make smoothies – what they believe is a healthier process, because it retains all the fibre of the ingredients. See that colossal bunch of kale that they just wrestled into the blender? That means you’re drinking the lot – no leaf left behind.
The drinks menu (all 600 millilitres) is divided into green smoothies and superfood smoothies. At a quick glance it can be confusing to tell the difference (a lot of them feature kale, spinach, chia, almond milk), but there are some nice mixes and the staff will help you with what you’re after (if you’re feeling rundown, or if you want a satisfying blend that will fill you up).
The big kahuna is the Green Cup – a mega blend of all the good stuff. At $12, the owners expected to sell it once in a blue moon, but it’s become a popular signature.
As for snacks, you can pick up a selection of house-made bliss balls, raw energy bars and slices. There are also three versions of blended acai bowls and a single-serve of avo toast topped with chia or chilli flakes – all good for a light snack.
