This all-day (and sometimes night) cafe has been a staple of the Bright dining scene since it opened in late 2011.

The sprawling outdoor area is the place to be in fair weather, sitting below the dappled sunlight that peers through towering oaks. But in winter, the enclosed front section is inviting and toasty thanks to open fires and local bands guiding the ambience.

In the morning Ginger Baker offers locally roasted Sixpence Coffee and comforting breakfast dishes. Lunch and dinner adopt a tapas format.

Start with mussels in sherry broth with almonds and bay leaves. Then move onto pumpkin risotto with toasted pine nuts, sage butter and parmesan; and Mount Beauty lamb cutlets with chimichurri. The wine list is predominantly local, so you can sample a selection of the valley’s best alongside your comforting meal.
