Francis Winifred is a bright and buzzy cafe serving creative breakfasts and lunches, house-made pastries and hot coffee by Allpress Espresso. Just off the Moonee Ponds Creek trail, it’s a popular detour (or destination) for local runners, cyclists and pram-walkers, and stands out with its green-tiled frontage and clusters of locals seated out the front.

Inside, the nostalgic space has earthy terrazzo floors, industrial pendant lights and an exposed brick wall. And a rotating all-day menu might be its next-best quality. If you arrive early, go for the popular cilbir (Turkish eggs) or comforting shakshuka with chorizo. Around lunch, you might try a loaded burrito bowl or soft tortillas lined with crispy chicken.
