Macaron king Adriano Zumbo’s high tea salon, Fancy Nance, has all the Zumbo trademarks: neon pink signage, mirrored panels and blue-velvet lounges. The walls are painted with flamingos, mushrooms and teacups, creating an Alice in Wonderland-esque playground for grown-ups.
There are two distinct sections to the salon. The back is the banquet sitting area, where guests can enjoy a rotating set menu of bite-sized savoury eats and sweets. Highlights include a crumbed osso bucco, tarragon ice-cream sandwich; and chocolate cake with cherry and vodka foam.
The kitchen is led by head chef Daniel Texter, whose CV includes Adriano Zumbo (Zumbo’s other South Yarra patisserie on Claremont Street) and Denmark’s Noma.
The front is a more casual bakery, cafe and gelataria called Little Frankie’s where Zumbo’s rustic Italian pastries are available.
