El Mirage
Features
El Mirage can fairly be classified as an East Brunswick cafe veteran. Since 2007 the establishment has been doing its simple food and coffee thing with orthodox breakfasts and lunches. And that’s not such a bad thing. The crew here leave the swanky menus to others, instead concentrating on simple things done well. And the espresso hits the spot every time.
Located right next door to L’Atelier de Monsieur Truffe, El Mirage is the one with the open frontage leading into the architecturally chic indoor space that seats plenty. They go without a traditional counter, instead making coffees and preparing drinks on a the stainless steel bench that runs the length of the north wall.
Add to this an always-evolving soundtrack of indie and blues, a mass of quality lifestyle magazines to peruse, gorgeous decor, and you’ve got yourself a rather tidy refectory to call your own. For those playing at home: yep, this was the place that featured on A Current Affair a few years back in a baby-ban piece. Babies still welcome: with mothers, that is.
