Einstein’s Relative continues Eitam Brami and Tomer Gian’s (of Caulfield’s Einstein 251) philosophy of using locally sourced produce to create freshly prepared fare with a Middle Eastern-inspired twist.
Relative uses beans from Omar & The Marvellous Coffee Bird, and its menu is awash with the rich flavours of Brami and Gian’s Israeli heritage: Relative Baked Beans topped with an aromatic sprinkling of dukkah; chicken toastada slathered with harissa-spiced mayo; or the old school salad roll with challah bread.
Star selections from 251 make an appearance here too, such as the vegan acai wake up bowl and 251 Reuben: a towering structure of pastrami, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, pickles and Russian dressing.
Relative presents an intimate, fresh space that is creative with food, coffee and design. The fit-out reimagine’s a casual science theme, with steel industrial motifs, quirky wooden-block portraits of Einstein’s family, a hanging string garden and glass beakers. The guys’ also have a curiosity and willingness to experiment – they have invented a muffin-and-cookie hybrid called mookies.
