Features
Contraband looks out over the fishmonger on Preston Market’s Pam Lane. Although the cafe is confined to a standard stall, there’s a decent amount of room for customers to sit.
Contraband’s queen bee is a custom La Marzocco Strada espresso machine that churns out brews prepped by two grinders: a Victoria Arduino Mythos One and Mahlkönig EK43. Beans are roasted at Fitzroy’s Newtown Specialty Coffee, which Contraband owner Chris Legge also owns. A selection of desserts – which includes vegan and gluten-free options – are also made in Fitzroy.
Contraband also does Aeropress, pour-over and cold drip, made with Legge’s Witch Doctor blend. A selection of brew equipment is for sale.
