Features
Space is not a luxury Collective Espresso has to enjoy, but that’s a part of its charm. Courtesy of a 2014 renovation, the fit-out still resembles the original establishment, just with a fresh approach.
On one side, a long communal table dominates the floor, surrounded by custom-made stools designed by Jean Paul Ghougassian from Comme Design. Out on the front steps, the tiles read “Meet Me Here”.
Chefs Nicky Campbell and Cedric Felix stick with the usual cafe staples, changing up the exact combinations according to recent trends.
Coffee is made on an iconic white-and-copper Synesso Hydra, using Collective’s own unique Cookson St Blend by Dimattina Coffee Roasters and Small Batch for black coffees and filters.
The soundtrack is usually loud ‘90s hip-hop and the occasional train rolling in and out of Camberwell Rail Station from across the road.
