The Breakfast Thieves
The Breakfast Thieves takes the industrial-chic look that’s common in Melbourne’s cafes and makes it something else: rustic. With exposed light bulbs, white tiles and walls adorned with aged timber, The Breakfast Thieves could convince you you’re in an idyllic country town, rather than Fitzroy.
The cafe knows its brew. It offers a range of coffees, from the house Haymaker Blend, to single origin and filter. It stocks everything from sweet and creamy espresso profiles to the more floral taste used for filter options. The beans are provided by Kensington’s Rumble Coffee Roasters.
The Breakfast Thieves isn’t bound by the constraints of one cuisine, so the menu has items on it from Malaysia and Spain, as well as France and the UK. It isn’t often you find sticky braised pork; chorizo baked eggs; and creamy porridge on the same menu.
The cafe offers a variety of options that vary day to day, as well as an extensive list of specials that are scrawled in chalk on a high-hanging blackboard.
