Boom Gallery was born in response to a lack of dedicated arts spaces in Geelong.

Inside the historic wool mill, three large exhibition spaces host different shows from a calendar that changes monthly. The gallery showcases an eclectic mix of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and photography. Owners Ren Inei and Kate Jacoby and gallery manager Dylan Foley are particularly interested in up-and-coming artists, and act as mentors in addition to providing the exhibition space.

For those less versed in the art world or looking for an introduction to it, there’s the attached cafe, Brother Lawrence. It’s a light and airy space serving ONA Coffee from Canberra, and specialises in simple, wholesome brunches. You’ll also find sourdough bagels with various fresh fillings, made daily.

In addition to the gallery and cafe, Boom also stocks an extensive range of handmade jewellery and ceramics from local makers.
