Boom Gallery was born in response to a lack of dedicated arts spaces in Geelong.
Inside the historic wool mill, three large exhibition spaces host different shows from a calendar that changes monthly. The gallery showcases an eclectic mix of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and photography. Owners Ren Inei and Kate Jacoby and gallery manager Dylan Foley are particularly interested in up-and-coming artists, and act as mentors in addition to providing the exhibition space.
For those less versed in the art world or looking for an introduction to it, there’s the attached Boom Cafe – a light and airy room serving Industry Beans coffee. Specialising in simple, wholesome food, the breakfast and lunch menu changes every two or three weeks to keep things interesting.
In addition to the gallery and cafe, Boom also stocks an extensive range of handmade jewellery and ceramics from local makers.
We do not seek or accept payment from the cafes, restaurants, bars and shops listed in the Directory – inclusion is at our discretion. Venue profiles are written by independent freelancers paid by Broadsheet.
