Bombini Buzz is a shrewd choice of name for a bar and cafe in the Hamer Hall, alongside the Yarra. Bombini is a term for a type of bumblebee; while the buzz refers to busy atmosphere of work-commuters on a coffee-run, and the excitement of audience members before a show.
Naturally, the morning menu focuses on honey. Mainstays include Dr Marty's crumpets with Beechworth Honey, as well as a honey tasting menu, including varieties made with blue gum; macadamia; and apple box. Coffee by Seven Seeds guarantees a morning buzz.
Robust lunch options include the midday pide (a stuffed Turkish flatbread); a sourdough baguette with chicken and brie; and a selection of tarts. Later on the focus turns to shareable pre-show bites, such as dips and charcuterie boards.
Except for a single champagne, the wine list is tight and all-Australian. Victorian beers and ciders come from Stomping Ground, Moondog, Hawkers and Cheeky Rascal. A rotating range of cocktails and selection of Australian gins, whiskies, rums and vodkas round out the offering.
Opening and closing times are subject to performances in Hamer Hall and may change without notice.
