Blume Coffee
The world of specialty coffee can be intimidating to the average punter. Blume, a tiny community roaster in a quiet corner of Abbotsford, is all about making that world a little more accessible – even to the most casual coffee drinker.
Owned and operated by one-man show Angus Gibb, Blume works exclusively with ethical, like-minded suppliers to source green beans for its two seasonal espresso blends. Sunshine is a lightly roasted modern style that’s bright, acid-driven and suitable for both black and white coffees. Moonlight mimics a dark Italian-style roast and goes perfectly with milk. There’s also a good selection of single-origin coffees on rotation.
Like many Melbourne coffee roasters, this one – and its homey little espresso bar – sits within a converted garage on a backstreet. Here you can grab Blume merch, fresh bags of beans and even fresher cups of coffee. Because of its limited size, most of Gibb’s customers tend to take away. But sitting in at one of two cosy benches and listening to whatever Gibb is spinning on the record player is also an option.
