Andzero
Features
Andzero is a charming neighbourhood cafe by former Kisume chef Reki Reinantha, who set out to create a local meeting spot that stands apart from your typical Melbourne cafe.
To that end, you won’t find avo toast on the menu. Instead, find teishoku (a traditional Japanese breakfast set) with house Japanese pickles, miso soup, an onsen egg and salad served alongside fried chicken katsu.
Sandwiches are a lunchtime highlight, with options including crisp Wagyu Hamburg, or spicy miso pork with parmesan, each served on fluffy white rolls and available until sold out. You’ll also find steak frites with a Japanese twist; choose between yakiniku sauce or yuzu kosho relish with butcher’s cut Wagyu and fries.
The specialty coffee program includes Five Senses’ take on viral drinks like the Mont Blanc and strawberry matcha. Pastries are another drawcard, with a mix of in-house creations, like cream cheese garlic bread, and viennoiserie from Cobb Lane Bakery.
The atmosphere inside the 22-seat venue is modern yet homey, with light wood, terrazzo surfaces and a palette of white and peach creating a warm, welcoming space to hang out.
