Aheda's Kitchen

Aheda’s Kitchen is a Palestinian food truck by asylum seeker Aheda Amro, who comes from Halhul – a village in the West Bank – and learned to cook from her parents. She started out with a simple salad and later mastered her favourite, tabbouleh. Now, she’s sharing her culture and cuisine with Melbourne.

Using halal-certified produce from suppliers along Sydney Road, Amro serves her favourite traditional dishes: baba ganoush, hummus, falafel, and a Jordanian dish of tender lamb served over rice with yoghurt called mansaf. Everything is served on paper plates to an eager crowd, which often wraps around the block.

Aheda’s truck, branded with red lettering by Melbourne artist Abbey Rich and proudly marked “With Love”, was funded through a Go Fund Me campaign. With the help of videographer Sam Biddle, Aheda raised more than $20,000 to bring her dream to life.
