Features
While many wine stores are clustered in Melbourne’s inner city, Natural Science brings some of the country’s most exciting and innovative producers to the eastern suburbs. The bottle shop-bar hybrid exclusively stocks Australian names, focusing on both emerging and established producers.
It’s the kind of neighbourhood spot you can visit a few times a week, whether it’s for a post-Pilates wine, a weekend catch-up or to pick up a bottle to enjoy at home.
The list skews heavily towards Victorian winemakers like Tillie J, Blood Moon and Little Frances Wines. But you’ll also find bottles from across the country, including Bellebonne’s crowd-favourite Tasmanian sparkling.
Four rotating beer taps always pour a lager, a pale, something hoppy and an ale of sorts. Classic cocktails such as Negronis, G&Ts and spritzes are made using local spirits, too.
BYO snacks are encouraged, or order in from nearby pizzeria Lorena. Otherwise, a tight selection of Victorian cheeses, charcuterie, chips and nuts are also on hand.
