Originally built in 1895, this renovated miner’s cottage pairs heritage charm with modern luxury. Set on a leafy street just a short stroll from the town centre, Belmont at Beechworth offers self-contained accommodation for up to four people.

The elegant property pairs polished wooden floors and original brick detail with a predominantly white palette. The two bedrooms at the front of the cottage are identical. Each contains its own bathroom and fireplace. For that matter, the bathroom also features its own fireplace, along with a freestanding cast-iron bath.

There are robes to swan about in, and you could lose a few hours napping in the plush vintage leather chairs in the lounge. The full kitchen features all the necessary mod cons (including a coffee machine), and there’s a barbeque on the back deck.

With Beechworth being an excellent town for getting around on two wheels, there are four bicycles provided. Glide between the region’s wineries, or simply make the short trip into town.

If your objective for the weekend is to hibernate rather than explore, there’s a selection of movies, music and board games at hand to keep you entertained.
