Vault Kitchen and Bar
Vault Kitchen and Bar opened in 2017, taking over Morwell’s original 1950s English Scottish & Australian bank. The vault itself is now a wine cellar.
The morning menu includes an acai smoothie bowl with seasonal fruits and smashed avocado on sourdough with a twist of seared scallops and bacon dust.
If you can look past the St Ali coffee on the machine, Vault is known for its inventive hot chocolates – one of which involves balancing out the intensity of Mörk Chocolate’s 85 per cent dark cacao with a dramatic tower of fairy floss. It’s not for everyone, but it’s worth trying.
At lunch there’s shared bites such as fried chicken or lemon pepper squid, plus larger dishes such as ricotta gnocchi with beef ragout or baked meatballs. The kitchen also serves up various grills (eye fillet, scotch fillet, porterhouse, mixed grill or veggie grill) to cook on a hot stone on your table.
There’s live music on Fridays from 4pm–6pm, which coincides with happy hour.
