Home to this 1940s-themed bar for almost a decade, tucked behind the Tusk cafe, Back Bar is populated with ornate couches, gilded mirrors, and mellow red, gold and orange hues. At first glance it can seem a bit extravagant, but with a little time – perhaps a cocktail or two – it becomes apparent that the Back Bar specialises in a cosy, relaxed, and worn-in atmosphere.
The cocktail list is extensive and varied with Cocktails of the Month framed and posted above a well-stocked bar. There’s a daily happy hour (and complimentary hot snacks) as well as an open fireplace with a stack of board games on the mantle. While it’s quiet and sedate mid-week, come weekends the Gold Room is opened upstairs which adds another – busier – dimension to the bar.
