Trunk Bar and Restaurant has re-opened as Pepe's Italian & Liquor.
For food, drink, setting and atmosphere, Trunk Bar and Restaurant ticks just about every box. Whether seeking a quiet beer and snack with a friend, a dining experience of serious intent, a breakfast meeting or a drink after work, this great space satisfies.
Originally a 19th century synagogue, Trunk takes inspiration for its name from the 150-year-old coral tree in its sunny courtyard. The modern, bricked exterior has a leafy croft for those seeking shade, and is a sturdy answer to the city’s many rooftops. Inside, classic high ceilings are supported by stone and generous dark wood finishes, which give the space a smart yet relaxed bistro feel.
The menu leans Mediterranean, with a smaller touch of the Middle East. A wood-fired oven produces pizza, and the kitchen plates up smaller beer snacks alongside hearty pastas and a Moorish mixed barbeque with merguez sausage, dukkah-crusted quail, lamb cutlets and ribs.
This comfortable, all-day dining style is complimented by a range of every-changing international beers and wines, and with the American-inspired Trunk Diner in the courtyard, Trunk is a must for every season or situation.
