The Milton

2:00pm - 12:00am
134 Ormond Road Elwood 3184

Named after the 17th-century epic poet, The Milton blends modern industrialism with old-world charm. Exposed red-brick walls and reclaimed Australian timber cocoon the intimate bar and eatery, which sits in a leafy village strip dominated by cafes and family friendly restaurants.

The elegant tapas-style dishes are designed to be paired with wine. Standouts include lamb kofta with sumac labne and tabouli, and slow-cooked pork on watercress salad with pomegranate and rosewater dressing.

While specific menu items depend on seasonality, charcuterie boards and cheese plates remain staples. So too with seafood dishes intended to complement lighter reds and whites on the extensive list of about 120 varietals.

The 8.4-metre bar has been specifically designed to allow customers and staff to engage and interact, with wine and food the conduit between the two. The design favours materials such as Victorian Ash timber from nearby mills and includes custom made, low-hanging pedants and wall lights.

Perfect for a light snack and glass of wine after a trip to the beach or nearby St Kilda pier, The Milton offers some appealing alternatives to old-school fish and chips by the foreshore.
