bar food

Uncommon is no more. The former cafe at the bottom end of Chapel Street has become Lover, a cocktail and wine bar from the same crew. Although, the term "bar" doesn't really do it justice. Yes, you can drop in for a single pot of beer or a coconut and elderflower Margarita, but the extensive menu means this is also a viable dinner option.

Start in the snack section with oysters, duck liver parfait and zucchini flowers, before moving onto pan-fried gnocchi; John Dory with brown butter, nori and cuttlefish; and porterhouse with charred carrot, bordelaise and buttermilk.

If you are here for the long haul, you won't get bored with the space. It's filled with an entertaining variety of bric-a-brac, including gilded mirrors, vintage tennis racquets, bird cages and candelabras.
