There’s not much left of the Builders Arms Hotel. Most of the site is taken up by Andrew McConnell’s (Cumulus Inc., Cutler & Co) modern Chinese restaurant, Ricky & Pinky.

But during the 2016 refit, he couldn’t bear to part with the classic front bar and its original tiles. It still looks and feels like a proper pub, even if the rest of the venue is packed with banquettes, lazy Susans, live-seafood tanks and curvy blue and gold pipes.

This preserved corner keeps dedicated drinkers happy with 10 taps. Expect brews from Mountain Goat, Vale, 4 Pines, Cricketers Arms, Carlton and others. Counter meals take in burgers, steaks and other pub classics. It might be small, but it’s still one of the area’s best spots for a casual drink.

The Builders Arms Hotel is now hiring. Find out more on Scout, Broadsheet's new employment website.
