Beer doesn’t always taste better at higher altitude. So Melbourne-born Brewmanity set out to change that with its first brewpub and rooftop bar.

Enter the three-level, 400-capacity venue, previously an old glass factory, and you’re greeted by the ground-level beer hall and brewery. Upstairs on the rooftop terraces you can sip cocktails, wines and brewery-fresh beers while enjoying stunning city views.

Head brewer Tim Miller drew on years of experience – including stints at Little Creatures and 3 Ravens – to get the 12-hectolitre brewery up and running. There are 14 different beer options across the venue’s 36 taps, including limited brews.

The food comes from the neighbouring Bells Hotel. Sharing plates are the idea, with vegetarian and vegan options available. Think mushroom arancini, karaage chicken bites and eggplant bao buns. For mains, grab four friends and try the beer-braised slow-cooked lamb on the bone with creamy slaw and pico de gallo, or tuck into updated pub classics.

When Brewmanity was founded in 2015, it was a charitable beer brand set up by former Melbourne Football Club captain David Neitz, Jamie Fox, a former Carlton and United Breweries marketing manager, and Paul Hopgood, a former Melbourne teammate. The brand was created to support their long-time coach Neale Daniher in his battle against motor neurone disease. Brewmanity has since raised over $970,000 for Daniher’s charity Fight MND.
