Arbory Afloat
THE LATEST
The upper level of Arbory Afloat is now home to the only floating photobooth in the world, and the restored 1970s kiosk is printing B&W shots. It's from Metro Auto Photo, the brand behind the well-loved Flinders Street booth.
You know summer is near when Arbory Afloat returns. Every year the whopping Yarra River bar is completely rebuilt and reopens with a fresh look inspired by a balmy international spot.
In the past we’ve seen the 69-metre-long pontoon kitted out to evoke Palm Springs, the French Riviera, and most recently, the tropical Yucatan coast of Mexico. For its ninth season on the Birrarung, we’re off to the Italian island of Capri.
Leaning into the beach club aesthetic of the Amalfi coast, Afloat Capri is a picture of striped umbrellas with valances, terracotta tiling, lemon trees and hand-painted details.
Vibing with the beach club theme is a cocktail program heavy on citrus- and aperitif-driven drinks. Expect a dedicated spritz section (Aperol, Campari and limoncello), more than 30 different Negronis and gelato-based frozen cocktails by Pidapipo.
Taking you from day to night is a menu of uncomplicated Italian fare – think pizza, pasta, antipasti and panino. Plus, daily crudo selections and seafood platters designed to share.
