The St Jerome’s Laneway festival has just released its 2011 line-up and it’s pretty spectacular. For us, this is potentially the finest opportunity to see some of our favourite local and international bands all in one place.

From humble beginnings in a laneway in Melbourne’s CBD, the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is now in it’s 7th year and has expanded its festival event, bringing it to some disparate metropolitan settings in Auckland, Brisbane, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. In our home town, the festival has out-grown its laneway boundaries and is now held out in Footscray at the Community Arts Centre, where space is more abundant.

Anyway, to the line-up. This year hosts international bands including dance rockers Chk Chk Chk, lo-fi melodic pop duo Beach House, psychedelic trio Blonde Readhead, ambient rock band Deerhunter, indie rockers Foals, and experimental rock from Yeasayer, while locals acts of Cloud Control, Cut Copy, the highly anticipated return of PVT (previously Pivot), experimental indie band Rat vs Possum and Nirvana-esque beach rockers, Violent Soho will play too.

St Jerome's Laneway Festival is on in Melbourne on Saturday, 5th February, 2011. Tickets go on sale next Wednesday, 20th October at 9am.
