The festival season is finally upon us for another year. Over the coming months there will be an abundance of food, music, film and cultural festivals sweeping the city, and this weekend starts with the Queenscliff Music Festival. Running from November 23 to 25, this 16-year-old darling has pulled out all the stops again and is sure to set your music loving heart alight.

The line-up is slightly longer than your eyes can easily trawl, but it features the kind of quality for which the festival is renowned. This year, Mia Dyson, Missy Higgins, The Cat Empire, You Am I, Something for Kate, Owl Eyes, Emma Louise, All The Colours, Loon Lake and Jackson Firebird (to name a few) are set to wake this sleepy town.

The festival manages to combine the best of both worlds. There’s the camping element, which seems to be deeply entrenched in us all no matter how many bad experiences we may have had trying to find our way in the middle of the night. And there’s also the sun, the seaside and, of course, getting away from it all for the weekend away from the computer.

For the locals, the ferry ride and festival is completely free and for those out of towners with time to spare between some of the 55 acts, there’s the delights of the town of Queenscliff itself. The weather is set to be near perfect, so we suggest a hat and sunscreen.

The Queenscliff Festival runs from November 23 to 25. For tickets and more information visit qmf.net.au.
