The Express Yourself! NGV Summer Children’s Festival is on now and crammed with silly amounts of fun, which is on the same plane as adults as well as kids.
The festival features a range of artist-led activities and crafternoons that focus on creative expression through fashion and design.
Discover temporary tattoos designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, Pasta Bling on a String led by Kate Rohde, printmaking with artists from Negative Press and self-publishing techniques and workshops by Sticky Institute. For really little ones, there’s the option of designing new threads for your stuffed bear before entering the teddy-bear photobooth.
On Australia Day, the event will conclude with a bang (similar to that of a glitter gun) with loads of entertainment and even live animals. Get up close and personal with fashion designers Anna and Luke from Romance Was Born as they share sketching activities followed by screenings of their favourite childhood films; Labyrinth and The NeverEnding Story. On top of all this, there’s a Word Farm workshop with Emily Floyd and lullabies performed by Sophia Brous.
Express Yourself! NGV Summer Children’s Festival 2015 runs January 17 – 26 at NGV Australia and NGV International.
