Lamington Drive and Chadstone Shopping Centre may seem unlikely bedfellows, but for the next 12 months the contemporary illustration gallery is showcasing a series of exhibitions at the expansive retail space.
Designed by Martyn Hook via SomethingTogether and located between Tiffany & Co., Gucci, Coach and Burberry, the temporary pop-up will bring together retail and art to afford shoppers the chance to experience something a little different to the usual, by-the-numbers shopping experience.
The first show saw the drawings of high-end illustrator Megan Hess, known for her work in The New York Times and Vanity Fair. Next in line, and currently still on display, is celebrated Melbourne illustrator and designer Kat Macleod, with her Page Girls 2 exhibition, a series of original works including her characteristically feminine sketches that have prettily graced many a page of Australian Vogue and Michi Girl.
As expected, fashion will continue to theme the specially curated exhibitions, showcasing an alternating body of work to new audience. Future exhibitions are yet to be confirmed, but the vibrant talent will be drawn from a pool of creative illustrators and artists, commonly linked through their representation by The Jacky Winter Group.
