Inspiration comes in many forms, but perhaps none more impeccably styled and accessible than The Design Files Open House, which threw open its doors today from a stunning home in Hawthorn.

Now in its third year, the format remains deceptively simple: transform a residential home into an interactive retail space filled to the rafters with beautiful things, and open it to the public.

From lighting fixtures and sculptures to urban gardens and a mezzanine, no household space nor surface has been spared in this year’s sanctuary of good design, where even the wall paint (by Dulux) is a preview to next year’s colour trends.

Keep you eyes peeled for understated leather tech accessories from MadeMeasure, drop pendant terrariums courtesy of Miniscapes, and geometric artwork from Esther Stewart, whose bold, angular paintings have become hot property.

We’re already eyeing off a Jai Vasicek crucifix piece, some hand blown glass domes by Amanda Dziedzic, and all the dinnerware from Anchor Ceramics to serve up our next cook up.

With an open invitation to buy what you like, the hardest part will be wrestling with other design enthusiasts for your chance to claim some impeccably crafted wares from fresh new faces in design to household names like Country Road and Dinosaur Designs.

For the ultimate interior inspiration or simply a snoop, Open House beckons.

The Design Files Open House is open from November 21 until November 24, 10am – 5pm.
