Maintaining its credentials as a prime meeting place and launch pad for the design community –industrial designers, interior decorators, product suppliers, as well as hoteliers, restaurateurs and design-conscious consumers – Saturday in Design (SiD) strings together the showrooms of some of the most reputable local and international designers.
Held over the coming weekend of (August 19 to 20) in Sydney, SiD carves out a dedicated niche for professionals to build networks and discover the product designs that seize the day. Spanning showroom locations across the city, SiD not only brings together designers for the purpose of product launches, but features a wide spectrum of design projects and events such as the annual collaborative event ‘The Project’, talks hosted by eminent designers, pop-up bars like the Verve Cliquot bar, the ‘Launch Pad’ exhibition for those emerging and the opportunity to enter draws to win furniture from participating designers.
As an annual event that alternately swings between Sydney and Melbourne, local designers feature heavily at SiD, with the likes of Julian Rattray (Iluka Furniture), David Hicks (David Hicks), Andrew Lowe (Lowe Furniture), Suzie Stanford and Tongue n Groove all making the trip north.
The international design sphere will also be making its mark with one of the UK’s leading young industrial designers, Benjamin Hubert, who will be Melbourne the following week for an event with Great Dane and Broadsheet.
