The Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) is now accepting entries for its annual CCP Salon photomedia competition, now in its 21st year of existence, with up to $20,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
As an open-entry competition, anyone can enter so long as you have a functioning camera. Entrants will have their work displayed in a traditional salon presentation (think floor to ceiling), taking over the CCP’s gallery space.
There are 23 prize categories that the judges will deliberate on, ranging from the princely $5000 grand prize (Leica and Ilford Excellence in Photomedia Award), to the ‘Manfrotto Best Portrait’ (a sizeable $1,305), as well as the ‘Strange Neighbour’ black and white prize, for which the winner receives a day’s darkroom hire and printing paper.
For photographers who don’t take themselves too seriously there are some less sober prizes to be won, namely the ‘Third Drawer Down’ most humorous image ($250) and the ‘Lomo Best Animal Image.’ There is also an Instagram black and white prize, which is free to enter for @ccp_australia followers, with the winner receiving a CCP showbag worth $200.
Due to popular demand, the closing date for entries has been extended to November 8 2013.
