Win: An Exclusive NGV Martin Grant Prize Pack (With Dinner on Us)

Melbourne-born, Paris-based fashion designer Martin Grant is a force to be reckoned with. His clean, classically inspired pieces have been worn by Lady Gaga, Naomi Campbell and Cate Blanchett, among others. He released his first ready-to-wear collection at the age of 16, and now the NGV is celebrating more than 40 years of Grant designs with a major retrospective.

To celebrate, Broadsheet and the NGV want one lucky reader to experience this new major exhibition, with a few extras thrown in too. Along with a double pass to the exhibition, the winner will receive a $200 NGV design store voucher.. In addition, the winner and their plus one will each take home a copy of the NGV’s exclusive Martin Grant Exhibition Catalogue ($60), a handsome hardback publication tracing Grant’s career from the 1980s to today.

We’re well aware that a day of soaking up art and culture can leave you famished. That’s why the winner will also receive a $250 voucher to dine at Nomad, the architecturally designed Flinders Lane restaurant dedicated to open-flame cooking. Just 10 minutes’ walk from the NGV, here you can expect plates like wood-grilled cuttlefish with creamed corn and charcuterie, and smoked beef cheek with pickled green tomato and black garlic.

The exhibition dives deep into Grant’s archive, uncovering works from the mid-1980s to now. Grant’s aesthetic – characterised by a preoccupation with structural form and immaculate finishes – is brought to life through a mix of fashion, photography, sketches, press clippings and runway footage. Together it paints a picture of an illustrious career that took the designer from suburban Blackburn to London, Paris and New York.
