National Architecture Week (NAW) is on next week in Melbourne (24-30 October). An exhibition highlighting the collaboration between architect, developer, builder and building technology, NAW is an opportunity for architects and the construction industry to share important structural advancements with the community.

Next week, in a demonstration of the future of sustainable design, Unitised™ archiPad will descend on Federation Square during NAW. Unitised™ archiPad is one bedroom apartment that will for part of Vic Urban’s ‘The Nicholson’ project in Coburg, an $80 million building initiative comprising of 200 dwellings to be complete by mid 2011.

Developed by renowned architect Nonda Katsalidis, the apartment has been built off-site in the Unitised Building factory and will be transported and constructed at The Nicholson after its appearance at Fed Square. It will be presented in its finished form, with all internal fixtures, fittings and appliances, carpeted, painted, and including a balcony and front door.

The Unitised™ archiPad demonstrates how architecture can deliver a sustainable and design-driven solution to house Australia’s growing urban population.

The Unitised™ archiPAD will be installed at Fed Square on Friday 22 October.
