The presence of The People’s Market’s in Collingwood during the summer months made for a welcome addition to a relatively quiet neighbourhood earlier this year, which makes its upcoming return to the suburb a great reason for visitors to head northside and locals to stay close to home.
For one weekend only, August 10 and 11, The People’s Market will return to Stanley Street, just metres away from its original site. Occupying a warehouse provided by Urban Inc’s Oxley residential project, the team will be offering up a similar collection of events and vendors that made them a local favourite last summer. Proud Mary returns with its Pop-up Brew Bar to keep the crowd well-caffeinated, with 20 other vendors focusing on handmade goods, locally made craft and food. The People’s Market DJ will be providing entertainment while guests grab a cold one from the PM Bar and hungry punters refuel at The Dude Food Van and Chingon food trucks parked at the venue.
Visitors rolling up to the market can get their bikes tuned up by the friendly neighbourhood mechanics from Tokyobike, who will also offer free bike rentals for those looking to explore the area on two wheels for the day.
The People’s Market team has been bringing the community spirit to other parts of the city, holding The People’s Market Out West pop-up event in West Melbourne in June. But local residents surely wouldn’t mind seeing some familiar faces back on the block.
