Mother’s Day is just around the corner, but unfortunately the customary cafe brunch is off the cards this year. Cremorne-based florist Superbloom has the next best thing, though: a chic bouquet – plus some locally sourced treats – delivered to your mum.

Superbloom’s new gift packs – which have names such as “Shhh … Do Not Disturb”, “Quaranqueen” and “There in Spirit” – include bright, bold floral arrangements, plus chocolate, candles, booze and even hand sanitiser produced by Melbourne-based companies. Each set comes with a quirky, colour-blocked greeting card. (Choose from seven slogans, including “Thanks for putting up with me Mum”, “Sending you hugs” and “There’s no one I’d rather be isolated with”.)

The “Sweet Tooth” ($150) includes a potted orchid, a block of Hey Tiger chocolate and a stack of Hunted & Gathered choc-chip cookies. The “Stiff Drink” ($295) is a solid option for mums moonlighting as homeschool teachers: there’s a lush bouquet of flowers, a block of limited-edition Hey Tiger chocolate and a bottle of Four Pillars gin (choose from four varieties, including in the popular Bloody Shiraz).

Broadsheet Access members get special tables at busy restaurants, tickets to exclusive events and discounts on food, coffee, brand offers and more.

Go all out with “Sending Hugs (and Treats)” ($525), which includes an extravagant flower arrangement, a fancy vegan Fazeek soap, Four Pillars gin, Hey Tiger chocolate, Hunted & Gathered cookies, Grown Alchemist hand sanitiser and a Damselfly candle.

Just after a simple bouquet? You can get one of those too, starting at $45.

“Our decision to stay local was an easy one,” says Superbloom owner Sarah Gonsalves on selecting the gifts for the packs. “The brands we chose to work with are the ones we have stocked in our studio and our homes. Melbourne born and bred, just like us.”

The overall aim, says Gonsalves, is to help treat mums and ease Mother’s Day shopping stress for kids.

“We know what it’s like to run around to five different places to team together the ultimate gift, and we wanted to make it ultra-convenient, particularly in these uncertain times,” she says.

“This year more than ever, mums need to be spoilt. It’s impacting all of us, and a sweet gesture like flowers and chocolate – and perhaps gin – can make them feel the love, from a socially distant two metres apart.”

Pre-order for Mother’s Day from 7.30pm on Thursday April 30. Delivery is free within 10 kilometres of Cremorne with the code MOTHERSDAY.
