Following the overwhelming success of its Hokusai exhibition, the NGV has extended its season of the famous Japanese artist’s work.

Gallery goers now have an extra week to see the artist’s famed woodblock prints. Previously due to end on October 15, the season will now close on Sunday October 22.

To accommodate for extra crowds, the exhibition will be open until 7pm on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October.

Katsushika Hokusai’s most widely recognised woodblock print is The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Out of around 2000 initial prints of this piece, the NGV has two on display. (Not many of these originals survive – only a handful still exist.)
