Melbourne Design Market, one of Australia’s longest running design markets, has closed.

“Having started Australia's very first design market over a decade ago, we feel it's time to respond to the evolving needs of the design community with new projects,” market manager Elizabeth Collins and founder Kathy Demos said in a statement.

“The Melbourne Design Market correctly predicted the need for a new retail model and instantly became a major forum for emerging and established businesses to demonstrate their credentials to the marketplace. New products were launched in the most personal way, with the designers present to tell the story to appreciative audiences.

“It's been grand."
