Guests arriving at the NGV on Thursday night (June 9) were among the first to view the latest instalment in the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition: *The Picasso Century *.

A custom Spanish menu nodded to Picasso’s heritage, with NGV's restaurant associates' executive chef Andreas Gobe dishing up highlights including octopus escabeche with fennel, Pacific oysters with sherry vinegar, honey pearls, sorrel and sage chickpea fritters with a romesco sauce. For dessert, guests enjoyed mini vegan meringues complete with blood orange and pistachio cream, buñuelos with vanilla custard and Spanish donuts and drinking chocolate.

Drinks followed suit, with choices of a Sherry Negroni or an Autumn Rebujito, which featured gin, Licor 43, lemon juice, orange bitters and soda water, alongside wines from Yering Station.

Notable attendees included rapper Baker Boy, singer Ella Hooper, artist Scotty So, comedian Aurelia St Clair, along with author and cook Julia Busuttil Nishimura and Masterchef judge Melissa Leong.
