Collingwood’s Fehily Contemporary has joined with Mossgreen Gallery and auction house, and will relocate to 935 High Street Armadale in early 2016.
Fehily will be located opposite Mossgreen, where the gallery will run as usual. Fehily Contemporary’s owner and founder, Lisa Fehily, says the partnership will expose more of Mossgreen’s clients to Fehily’s artists.
“We’re committed to the promotion and development of our artists,” she says. “We’ll benefit from Mossgreen’s infrastructure and will be able to present their clients a different experience, and allow clients to purchase artists at the beginning of their art journey.”
The new Armadale location will launch with a group exhibition entitled NOW16, running from March 2 to 27. It will show works from Fehily’s stable of artists.
“Normally a lot of auction houses and galleries are kept quite separate,” Fehily says. “With this partnership, we can give our artists an understanding of the total career path: you hopefully work with a commercial gallery for many years and then have an understanding of the secondary market [where art that has been sold at least once, is sold again].”
Founded in 2010, Fehily Contemporary represents a small number of emerging and mid-career artists including painters Darren Wardle, Kate Shaw, and photographer Ricky Maynard.
