Every morning, thousands of inboxes around the world are brightened with the arrival of The Design Files Daily. For the third year running, founder Lucy Feagins and her team are taking over a private residence in Melbourne to create The Design Files Open House, bringing all the best aspects of the site to life.

Over four days this November, Feagins and her team will put months of planning and preparation into action, moving into a private house in Hawthorn and decking it out with some of the amazing wares that have been profiled on The Design Files over the course of the last year. While the owner's own possessions are (delicately) packed away, the team will use the house as a something of a blank canvas, filling it with their favourite products from their venerable little black book of designers. And the best bit? It's all for sale, from the books on the shelves to the artwork, soft furnishings, accessories and furniture.

With over 70 brands and designers involved for this year's Open House (including 35 new additions), Feagins is hard-pressed to pick a favourite. But there are plenty to keep an eye out for. "I'm loving artwork by Sydney artist Julian Meagher,” says Feagins. “He's creating two brand new paintings especially for the event."

The team were also thrilled by their recent discovery of Sydney-based designer Kenny Yong Soo Son of StudioKyss. “He makes the most beautiful vessels and decorative accessories from concrete and timber,” says Feagins. “We're very excited to have his work too."

The Design Files Open House runs from Thursday November 21 to Sunday November 24 and is open from 10am to 5pm daily. For more information, sign up The Design Files Daily here.
