It’s not often that one gets to wine and dine with someone special in gorgeous rural Victoria, only to cap it all off with a day of exceptional music. But that’s exactly the kind of experience that A Day on the Green has become renowned for.

This weekend, the festival is heading to Rochford Winery in the Yarra Valley, bringing Australian greats the Hoodoo Gurus and the Angels with them. And given the weather forecast for the coming days it seems the perfect opportunity to bring the picnic blanket out of storage and hit the road with an excellent basket of goodies under your arm.

Returning for its 12th year, A Day on the Green has become synonymous with taking punters to the most stunning vineyards the states have to offer and bringing some of the world’s finest musicians to boot. This year is no different, with Neil Young, Elvis Costello, Paul Kelly, Neil Finn and Lisa Mitchell taking the headlining lead.

If Saturday is a bit too soon for you, The Hill Winery in Geelong and All Saints Estate in Rutherglen will be playing hosts to the festival throughout December and January. Taking the day (or the entire weekend) off and escape to the country for some fresh air, good food, great wine and excellent music has never seemed to appealing. Especially not if the weather stays as idyllic as this!.
