Heating things up for the tail end of winter, Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes take their sultry soul and doo-wop set to the moody Toff stage this month.

Over the course of their August residency, Clairy Browne, along with her harmonising girl gang and honkin’ big band, will be keeping things in the family, with a series of intimate collaborations with special guests.

Newly coiffed and adequately bedazzled for the event, Browne knows how to hold an audience’s attention, previewing some devilish new numbers from her forthcoming album as well as some much-loved classics.

Bright red nails and gold bling aside, it is the big band behind it all that makes these shows what they are. The live performances really give the band an opportunity to showcase its dynamic musicality. Darcy McNulty’s baritone sax soars, held steady by driving bass lines and punctuated by a ballsy bass drum solos that will have you swing dancing all the way home.

Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes play the Toff every Tuesday night this month, more details available here.
