You’ve heard about the exhibition of David Bowie ephemera, David Bowie Is. But you’ve rightly wondered why the show’s missing live music and booze, given Mr Z. Stardust’s professed love of both. Never fear: ACMI has it sorted.
On Thursdays and Fridays, the doors are being kept open for a season of Bowie Late Nights featuring a selection of bands, solo artists, DJs and VJs taking the stage to profess their love for the Thin White Duke, and get a party started in his honour.
ACMI is being pretty clear that these are Bowie-themed nights, so expect a little more than a pub cover band. As you’d expect, it’s a line-up as eclectic as the man himself, including Total Giovanni, The Bombay Royale, Jen Cloher, Sleep D and more.
Thursday nights will be DJ-led, with bands on Fridays. Capacity for these late sessions is only 600, so will sell out. Book now on ACMI’s website: acmi.net.au/bowie-late-nights.
