Named after Japan’s all-day cafes, Kissaten was developed to capture the spirit of a traditional Japanese coffee house. Take a seat inside the intimate cafe, enjoy the sunny courtyard, or grab a takeaway coffee from the window next to a large car park where you can pull up for a quick order.

The menu isn’t traditionally Japanese in its entirety, but the inspiration is present throughout. Find ramen three ways: a shio tonkotsu, a vegan version, and a rich, untraditional breakfast ramen. There’s also Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and soba noodle salad packed with produce like pickled shiitake mushroom, cabbage, karaage tofu and drizzled with lemon.

Like at Japanese kissaten, coffee and tea are a big focus. Beans come from Preston’s Contraband Coffee Traders, while the spice mix for the cafe’s signature hojicha (green tea) latte is made in-house.
